Short answer

Check BRP registration, your IND residence proof and whether income and address changes were reported. Ask for a written decision when support is refused or stopped.

Practical steps

Key rights

Rights depend on your individual situation.

  • BRP registration and IND residence proof;
  • reception and living allowance under applicable conditions;
  • healthcare through the RMO;
  • education for minors;
  • employment without a TWV under special conditions.

Information and decisions

Ask for the legal basis, relevant facts, effective date and appeal route. Keep letters, envelopes and receipt dates.

When to act quickly

Check deadlines immediately after termination of protection, reception or allowance, a sanction or an order to leave. An urgent court measure may be necessary.

Questions about rights

May I work?

Yes, as an employee without a TWV if conditions are met. The employer must notify UWV.

Why did my allowance stop?

Income of an adult family member may be a reason. Request a written calculation and decision.

Is temporary protection the same as asylum?

No. They are separate procedures with different consequences.
